Road Safety 101

Road Safety 101 is an online certificate aimed at teaching the fundamentals of road safety. By completing this course, students will be able to understand the elements of successful road safety programs, identify contributing crash factors and how they interact as well as gain a better understanding of road safety data collection and systems.
Road Safety 101 is being pilot tested by the Road Safety Academy and is based on NCHRP 17-40 Model Curriculum for Highway Safety Core Competencies. This pilot offering of Road Safety 101 will be offered at no cost. Space is limited.
Course Requirements
There are no required prerequisites for Road Safety 101, other than an interest in the field of highway safety. This certificate program is designed specifically for working professionals within the fields of road safety, including but not limited to engineering, planning, public health, injury prevention, law enforcement, and emergency management.
This online certificate course begins October 13, 2011. During the course, 100% participation in the course assignments, synchronous and asynchronous sessions will serve as criteria for the Road Safety 101 Certificate of Completion. Course participants are eligible for PDH and CM credits. The course consists of a pre- and post-exam, 5 live sessions, 2 self-paced sessions, and a series of quizzes and exercises.
